Dutch blues band from the village of Grolloo whose farmhouse became a waystation for visiting American and British bluesmen.
were founded in 1964 in Grolloo, in the Dutch province of Drenthe, by singer Harry Muskee — whose dog Cuby gave the band its name — and guitarist Eelco Gelling. Their sound had no real precedent in the Netherlands, and hits like “Back Home” (1966) and “Window of My Eyes” (1967) made them a national band. Grolloo mattered as much as the records: the Chicago pianist Eddie Boyd rehearsed at Muskee's farm for three days before they cut Praise the Blues together in Hilversum in March 1967, stayed there the same year, and sat in with them on Live in Düsseldorf (1968). Muskee died in 2011.
