Romanian and Moldavian folk music was klezmer (כּלי־זמר) 's close neighbor and a deep source of borrowing: the free-time (doină) lament, played by professional lăutari, became klezmer's great solo showpiece, and dance forms like the hora (horă) and the sirba (sârbă) crossed over into the repertoire.
